You can find below some recommendations for a good mobile usage.

1. OPERATOR SELECTION MODE

To be able to receive and make calls on both the Swisscom and Orange networks, you must enable "Automatic" operator selection mode.

To check or change the selection mode:

  • Samsung Galaxy* : Settings > Connections > (More networks > Mobile networks) > Network operators > Select automatically
  • iPhone* : Settings > Carriers > Automatic carrier : select ON
  • Nokia* : Menu > Settings > Phone > Operator selection > Automatic
  • Other models : Please refer to the User Guide of your mobile phone

2. DATA ON ROAMING

If you want to use the DATA services on the Orange network, you must enable "DATA roaming".

To enable or disable the DATA roaming :

  • Samsung Galaxy* : Settings > Connections > (More networks > Mobile networks) > DATA Roaming
  • iPhone* : Settings > General > Cellular : Data roaming
  • Nokia* : Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Mobile data > ON or OFF when roaming
  • Other models : Please refer to the User Guide of your mobile phone

Please note that smartphone applications may make more use of the data connection than you expect. To minimise costs, please check application settings, e.g. to avoid having your email application automatically download complete emails and attachments. The best way to avoid excessive and accidental data usage is to enable data roaming only when you need it and disable data roaming when you do not. If you have a "full" subscription you should check your data roaming setting carefully when travelling as roaming charges for data transfer can be expensive depending on the country. Please see Communication and Data transfer tariffs for information of the applicable tariffs in different countries.

3. PROTECT YOUR DEVICE

  • Do not lend your device to others
  • Use a PIN code to block your SIM card
  • Use a lock code to protect your device
  • Equip your device with a protective cover

4. IN THE EVENT OF LOSS OR THEFT:

  1. Block your SIM card immediately!

a) during working hours : call as soon as possible the Telecom Lab at 77777 (+41 22 76 77777 ).

b) outside working hours call as soon as possible the SWISSCOM hotline at :

Hotline CH : +41 800 55 64 64 or Hotline INT : +41 62 286 12 12

The Telecom Lab will provide you with a new SIM card with the same phone number.

  1. To declare the loss, the theft or the disappearance of the device belonging to the Organization according to the official procedure(link is external), please fill in the Declaration of loss or theft.
