As a Database Engineer in the Database and Analytics (DA) Group, your main activities will be to:

• Administer and troubleshoot Oracle Database systems, from development to mission-critical production systems.
• Configure and support database platforms: architecture and design, evolution, scaling, migration, upgrade and patching.
• Proactively monitor database environments to ensure optimum performance, improve throughput, stability and security of the database platform.
• Provide technical expertise to application development teams.
• Develop database related software automation following group guidelines and project needs.
• Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentoring and training to peers.

We are looking for someone with the following experience/skills:

• Operation of large-scale production database environments.
• Database backup, restore and recovery focused on Oracle databases (using RMAN)
• Technical and troubleshooting skills with relational databases running on Oracle. Experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL is an advantage.
• Performance tuning, query optimisation, replication techniques, clustering, partitioning and security issues.
• SQL knowledge with ability to write and troubleshoot SQL code (stored procedures, functions, tables, indexes, constraints).

Additional experience/skills in the following areas would be an asset:

• Knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions for Oracle.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL and/or MySQL HA solutions.
• Database operations experience in an Agile development environment.
• Exposure to puppet configuration management.
• Administration of Linux-based operating systems.
