Departmental Training Officer (DTO)

Role

As a Departmental Training Officer (DTO), you will:

  • Primarily be responsible for the operational aspects of departmental training; work in collaboration with the Departmental Management, the Talent Manager (technical supervision for activities related to the DTO role), the Deputy DTO, the Departmental Planning Officer (DPO), the Learning and Development (L&D) Group and the HR Advisor on matters relating to the collection, organisation, analysis and prioritisation of departmental training needs as well as on the production of departmental training plans and report on training-related issues.
  • Interact with colleagues, supervisors, Group Leaders and Departmental Management for dissemination and harmonization of training across the Department. You will also provides colleagues with technical guidance in the selection of learning opportunities and prepare inputs to periodic reports for the IT Steering Committee (ITSC).
  • The DTO’s role is standardized across the departments, and an appropriate percentage of your time, proportional to the size of the department, is allocated to these activities; you will meet regularly with L&D to discuss collectively training-related issues and, in particular, to ensure the homogeneous implementation of the learning and development policy in the Organization.
  • The DTO role increases your visibility within the Department, exposes you to discussions with Management and exchanges with the community of DTOs/DDTOs across the organisation. It is also an opportunity for you to develop your strategic thinking and planning capacities, as well as your communication and coordination skills.

As a successful applicant, you are:

  • A member of personnel with at least 2 or 3 years of membership
  • Willing and able to commit to this role for an initial duration of two years at a 10% workload, i.e. about ½ day per week on average

In addition, you have:

  • Good understanding of the technical work done and the competencies required in the Department
  • Strong interest in Learning & Development in the area of Information Technology
  • Interest in personal development, leadership, communication and language training portfolios
  • Interest in learning and sharing knowledge, building relationships, communicating effectively, demonstrating accountability, bringing out the best in people
