As an IT Systems Engineer (Procurement) in the Fabric (FA) Group, your main activities will be to:

• Oversee the technical procurement and hardware support of servers, storage systems as well as business computers associated peripherals.
• Analyse user requirements and recommend appropriate hardware configurations.
• Run the procurement procedures to supply the recommended solutions, in line with CERN’s purchasing rules.
• Carry out the conformity assessment processes for the supplied systems.
• Solve complex problems relating to computer systems and follow up with contractors as well as manufacturers.
• Contribute to the Fabric group software developments for computer systems' management.

We are looking for someone with the following demonstrated experience/skills:

• Computer systems (BIOS/UEFI, x86/ARM processor architecture and virtualization, memory, GPU computing), interconnect (Ethernet, Infiniband) and types of storage drives (S-ATA, SAS, NVMe).
• Management and monitoring protocols such as, but not limited to, IPMI, SMART and SNMP.
• Extensive experience with Linux and shell scripting.
• Windows.
• Python.
