ROLE - IT Departmental Privacy Coordinator

This part-time assignment is for a period of 12-24 months and is estimated to require 30% of the person’s time.

The key responsibilities and tasks for this part-time role are as follows:

  1. Represent the IT department in the Organisation’s Data Privacy Coordination Committee (https://privacy.web.cern.ch/data-privacy-coordination-committee-dpcc).
  2. Take part in DPCC sub-groups that work on dedicated topics (e.g. data retention, surveys, etc.) where IT needs to be involved
  3. Convene the IT data protection WG (Data Protection Working Group · Indico (cern.ch))
  4. Present to the IT department management recommendations from the Data Privacy Coordination Committee, their significance and the impact on the IT department. Follow-up on key points, involve stakeholders and make solution proposals.
  5. Coordinate with counterparts in other departments and the ODP (https://privacy.web.cern.ch/office-data-privacy-odp), in order to arrive at common implementation standards, practices and policies throughout the Organization on the protection of personal data.

Within IT department:

  1. Report to the lead of Technical Delivery
  2. Provides consultancy to ARB and license officer in data privacy related questions
  3. Coordinates via the IT data protection WG the implementation of data protection regulation and policies within the IT department and assist with creation of Privacy Notices and Data Protection Impact Assessments.
  4. Support the IT department services in their compliance with OC11 (e.g. guide services in creating and updating the Records of Processing Operations, accompany them in the Data Protection Impact Assessments process, ensure a privacy by design approach is followed and they are aware of the Organization's procedures and best practices, etc.)
  5. Gather input and feedback from IT department stakeholders through the IT WG, and coordinate with the Office of Data Privacy Protection (ODP).

Requirements for candidates:

A strong interest in privacy and data protection is a must, and knowledge of OC11 helps. Privacy topics can be sometimes complex and require discussions and careful consideration with people across the IT department and the ODP.
