As a DevOps Engineer in the Data Stores section, you will:

• Manage multiple ElasticSearch and OpenSearch clusters contributing to the service configuration, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance activities
• Design the evolution of the OpenSearch deployment, implement/integrate new functionality, and contribute to upstream community projects when applicable
• Take part in the ongoing migration from ElasticSearch to OpenSearch, and support the affected users in this process
• Contribute to the operations and development of other section’s services, such as the database storage service, where possible/necessary.

Experience:

• Proven experience in the operation of large scale production deployments preferably data store solutions.
• Experience using, integrating, and contributing to open-source software projects.
• Experience with user relations, user support, and user requirements definition.
• Experience working in agile project management environments.

Technical skills:

• Infrastructure management of physical and virtual nodes with OpenStack.
• Unix/Linux environments and systems administration.
• Configuration management solutions such as Puppet and monitoring of distributed systems.
• Programming techniques and languages, in particular Python programming.
• Knowledge of system configuration tools: such as container-based technologies and configuration platforms (e.g. Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• The following skills are an advantage:
  • Knowledge of ElasticSearch/OpenDistro/OpenSearch and related tools such as Logstash and Kibana.
  • Storage backend technologies such as Ceph or NetApp is a plus.
