Database Engineer (IT-DB-SAS)

Member of the Streaming and Analytics Services section in the Database services group.

Main tasks:

• Service Manager for Hadoop, HDFS and HBase
• Administration and operation of Hadoop components and production scalable databases (HBase), from development to mission-critical production systems.
• Configuration and support of big data platforms: architecture, evolution, migration, upgrades and patches, including monitoring of system health and performance.
• Consultancy, assistance and advice to end users, including data architecture and data pipelines design.

The following experience and competences should be provided:

• Operation of large-scale production big data platforms.
• Technical and troubleshooting skills with Hadoop components.
• Performance tuning, data engineering, replication techniques, partitioning and security issues.
• Practical experience with programming in Java and Python
• Practical experience with distributed computing frameworks for big data such as Apache Spark.
