As an Audio-Visual Technical Engineer in the Fabric (FA) Group, your main activities will be to:

• Oversee CERN’s conference room service.
• Establish and maintain a master plan for the refurbishment of meeting rooms and auditoriums.
• Ensure that the equipment in the conference and meeting rooms is standardised (this includes customer relations, project management, selection, ordering, installation and testing of equipment: projectors, LCD screens, video/audioconference facilities, public address systems, interpreting systems, etc.).
• Provide information about rooms and arrange site visits for the AV contractor and review the equipment selection, installation design and commercial offers.
• Supervise and sometimes undertake the maintenance and operation of the conference and meeting rooms.
• Supervise and sometimes undertake the response to requests for audio-visual support and customer relations for event management, in particular VIP visits.
• Supervise and sometimes undertake the installation of temporary mobile public address systems and projection systems for special events.
• Programme and update equipment controllers.
• Collaborate actively with the webcast, recording and videoconferencing services.
• Maintain a constant knowledge base by tracking relevant technology and market trends in order to provide CERN users with the most up-to-date audio-visual solutions.

We are looking for someone with the following demonstrated experience/skills:

• Planning, designing, and installing conference room facilities and auditoriums.
• Customer relations, technical support.
• In-depth knowledge of AV control systems development platforms such as Extron and Crestron.
• Working knowledge of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking.
• Experienced user of AutoCAD.

Additional experience/skills in the following areas would be an asset:

• Supervision of the work of contractors providing audio-visual installation and support.
