As a Computing Engineer in the Collaborative Applications (CA) group, you will have the following roles:
- Member of the core Indico development team
- Indico Service Management
Your main activities will be to:
- Lead and contribute to the redesign and development of Indico’s new UX/UI, supporting devices such as mobile phones and tablets;
- In collaboration with the UN and other Indico contributors, take over the management of the ongoing accessibility overhaul, and ensure its long-term maintenance;
- Develop cross-integration between Indico and multimedia services (video conferencing, Web Lectures, Webcast), and CDS/InvenioRDM with the goal of enhancing usability as well as Open Science and FAIR capabilities;
- Act as backup service manager for the Indico service, sharing some project management tasks with the Indico Project Manager;
- Participate in the 3rd-line Indico and Burotel support rota (and potentially other services, such as Webcast and Web Lectures).
We are looking for someone with the following demonstrated experience/skills:
- Web application development, with a preference for candidates knowledgeable in any of the following: Python, JavaScript, Flask, React.js, SQLAlchemy and PostgreSQL;
- Mobile application development, with a preference for candidates knowledgeable in PWAs and/or React Native;
- DevOps technologies and deployment infrastructures, such as Kubernetes/Openshift, Puppet and Openstack;
- Open-Source development and community building;
- Dealing with user relations, user support, and user requirements definition;
- First experiences coordinating or supervising other developers.
Additional experience/skills in the following areas would be an asset:
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of Open Science projects;
- Cross-integration between different web services and APIs, especially within the FAIR ecosystem.
