The candidate will join the PDS (Physics Data Services) section, contributing to the service development, deployment and operations activities of the Storage (ST) group. He/She will participate to the core service development of EOS, the CERN large-scale distributed storage system, including further automation of the system and support of the physics community at CERN, and in the World-Wide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG).

Main Tasks:

• Contribute to the core development and further automation of the CERN storage systems.
• Participate to the development and improvement of the EOS distributed key-value namespace.
• Participate in the support effort provided by the group (user support and incident response) for the storage services including the participation to on-call duties.
• Participate in the service operation and deployment of the large scale storage services provided by the group

 
Required Experience and Competencies:

• Extended programming experience in in C/C++, python and shell scripting
• Concrete experience with the development or deployment or operation of long-running system level services
• Practical experience with development, testing, debugging or supporting distributed systems
• Participate in the service operation and deployment of the large scale storage services provided by the group
